Nice cream – seriously? I have been eating whipped up frozen bananas for years and didn’t know that it actually had a name. Ok – nice cream …. And it it delicious – and I will give you the “recipe” in a second. But this gives me the chance to chat a bit about the whole renaming of foods. Drives me crazy!!!
Ok – even when I ate meat in the 1990s I did enjoy a veggie burger. Not because it was a substitute for a hamburger – but because it tasted good. Same with tofu and seitan and almond milk. Why can’t they just be delicious for what they are and not for what they are not. Following me? Why call something “fake” cheese – when it is really a delicious almond cheese? (And if you don’t believe me check out this cookbook – This Cheese Is Nuts – and then let’s chat.) I honestly prefer to eat whole foods, but when I first changed my diet to vegetarian and then vegan I certainly purchased my fair share of …. well …. stuff!
But I digress ….
Regardless of how you choose to fuel your body – I do have to tell you that whipping up 2 frozen bananas in the food processor and spooning out a delicious frozen treat makes my night!
The quick recipe you ask? I just gave it to you.
2 frozen bananas
Put them in the food processor.
Process until whipped.
Want to get a bit more fancy? Go for it! Add any of all of the following (but all might be a bit much)
- Cacao nibs
- Frozen cherries
- Frozen strawberries
- Coconut flakes
Seriously – the list is endless. Let me know your favorite!
Some people find that they need to add a bit of liquid – fine – but go for a non-dairy liquid. I have always just been patient and it turns out just fine.
